Good Day!
As we promised on our last video, here’s the ultimate VegaNice original Burger recipe!
Who doesn’t love Vegan Burger?
During the time that I was experimenting this recipe, I went to the local Japanese supermarket which I usually do to get some ideas on what to put on our burger recipe and to familiarize more about the local ingredients. Being a Vegan food recipe creator makes my creativity and imaginations really alive. Since I used to cooked non-vegan all these time, it is really is a challenge for me. Let’s start!
Ingredients: makes 6 patty
Soymeat(minced type)-100g
Atsuage/ deep fried type of tofu- 100g
Konjac/yum cake- 100g
Vegan bread crumbs- 50g
White onion (chopped) – 60g
Cornstarch- 50g
Soy sauce- 15ml
Olive oil- 25ml
Garlic powder- 12g
Nutmeg powder- pinch
Salt and pepper- to taste
Procedure:
- Prepare a boiling water and boil the Konjac/yum cake for about 2 minutes to remove fishy smell.
- Blend the Konjac until mushy consistency.
- Boil also the soy meat until soft. Drain and squeeze out excess water. But make sure to cool it down because its hot!
- In a pan, saute the chopped onions with olive oil until sweet and translucent.
- In a bowl, add the rest of the ingredients and mix it together (Better to use your hands in mixing! it’s fun! ) 😋
- After mixing, divide it by 6 portions and shape into a patty.
- Put in tray and rest in the fridge for about 30 minutes before searing!
- Sear in a pan with olive oil and cook until nice in color. That’s it!
One thing I think is really important about cooking is finding the right ingredients. You need to visit your local markets regularly and familiarize on what are available. By this, it will help you to create something amazing! After finding the right ingredients, use the advantage of those ingredients to create the best taste out of it, check the right consistency and appearance is also important.
For this recipe, I used fried tofu(Aburaage), Konjac(yam cake)and soymeat! I would like to share on how Japanese ingredients can be used in creating incredible vegan dishes! I bought this soymeat from IEON supermarket. Surprisingly, they are offering more vegan products than any other supermarkets I’ve visited so far.
This is a Vegan Mayonnaise from Kewpie. It is available in most supermarkets here in Japan!
I hope you’ll enjoy making your own burger by using this recipe! Until our next blog!
Have a VegaNice Day!
